These terms are the agreement between you and Jeremy Marks (“we”, “us”) for your use of Nature Strip (the “app”). By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.
Using the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Nature Strip on devices you own or control, for as long as you comply with these terms. You may not sell, rent or sublicense the app, and you may not reverse-engineer it except to the extent your local law says you may regardless of an agreement like this one.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Nature Strip to:
- break the law, or help anyone else break it;
- upload malware, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or anyone else’s;
- interfere with the app’s operation, or place an unreasonable load on our servers — including by sending “Your street” lookups in bulk;
- harass, threaten or impersonate anyone.
If you do any of these we may suspend or end your access, with notice where it is practical to give it.
Your street
Yards built from a real address are approximate. They combine open government lot data and OpenStreetMap with parts the app guesses, and they are not a survey, a statement of anyone’s property boundaries, or advice about any property. The map data belongs to its publishers and is used under their licences (CC BY 4.0 and the Open Database Licence).
Game money
Nature Strip has no accounts and no purchases. The dollars, gear and reputation in the game are part of the game: they have no real-world value and cannot be bought, sold or exchanged for money.
Your content
Anything you create in Nature Strip — your business name, your saves — remains yours, and stays on your device. We claim no ownership of it, we do not use it to train models, and we do not sell it.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep Nature Strip available and working, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. “Your street” depends on public data services we do not control, and may be slow or unavailable at times. We may change, suspend or discontinue features.
The app may update itself to fix problems or deliver improvements.
Your save
Your game is saved on your device only. Uninstalling the app, or clearing the browser’s data for this site, deletes it, and we cannot recover it.
Disclaimers
Nature Strip is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms excludes a guarantee, warranty or right that your local consumer law does not permit us to exclude — in Australia, for example, the Australian Consumer Law guarantees apply regardless of anything written here.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, or loss of data arising from your use of Nature Strip. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or AUD $100.
This section does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not permit us to limit.
Ending this agreement
You may stop using Nature Strip and delete it at any time. We may end this agreement if you materially breach these terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive — your content ownership, disclaimers, liability limits — do.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The current version is always on this page with its date. If a change materially reduces your rights we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use the app afterwards means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the place where we are established, and the courts there have jurisdiction. This does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, or of your right to bring a claim there.
